Cupcake Wars

The Author of this post is Herman Barry

I searched Direct tv deals online and found a package that had all of the channels I wanted. Ever since we had our tv set up, I have started watching a lot of baking shows. I think it is so amazing that people can make and decorate cakes and cupcakes so intricately. They make cakes with sugar flowers that look like real flowers. All of the details that put in to the decorations on the cakes are so impressive. I am also really impressed by the different flavors they come up with. I watch “Cupcake Wars” and they come up with the craziest flavors. Some of my friends love watching that show too and they wanted to have our own cupcake war. Each of us will bake three cupcakes that are three different flavors and have three different icings. Everything has to be made from scratch. After we finish, our husbands will judge which cupcake they like best. I don’t know if there will be a prize at the end, but it will be a fun competition. I’m also excited about tasting my friends’ cupcakes, although I am sure that mine will win.

Control Freak

Written by my friend Dong Wood

My roommate is a complete control freak. Most people would probably have a problem with that, but it is fine with me. I’m pretty laid back when it comes to our apartment since I don’t spend much time there. Letting her control things means that I don’t have to make any of the decisions around the house. I am fine with just writing a check for my half of the bills, and not having to deal with anything else. I would hate to have to negotiate every decision, so this arrangement works for me. She recently had a problems with our cable company, and went directly to expertsatellite.com and changed our service to satellite TV. I work way too much to deal with stuff like that, and I think she strangely enjoys it. I don’t think she would be able to live with anyone who needed to be consulted before changing anything, it would drive her nuts if she didn’t have complete control. It probably works for us since we aren’t really friends. I have my own life, and she has hers, so we don’t spend much time together.

Mouse

So there was a mouse right outside my house door today and it just freaked me out and I yelled and it went runninginto the snow all squeaking and everything which then it was kind of creapy - I don't care wear it goes as long as it tay out of the house that is all!

The View

This guest post from Edgardo Rosa

I love watching “The View” every morning that I can. I love to hear their gossip about celebrities and I love it when celebrities come on the show. I heard that Katherine Heigel was going to be on the show. I love her and I wish she had never left “Grey’s Anatomy.” I wanted to make sure that I watched the show that she was on. I went online tohttp://www.DirectStarTV.com/ find the show listing and the date that she would be on. Luckily, it was a day that I was going to be home and I could watch it. Seeing her on “The View” made me like her even more than I already did. She seems like she is such a normal person and so down to earth. She adopted a little girl who was there too. It was funny watching her let her two year old climb all over her. She seems like she is just a normal mom too. I am glad that I was able to watch the show with her on it. At the end of the show, she mentioned that she would be open to coming back to “Grey’s Anatomy.” I would be so happy if that happened!

Finding hubby a gift

Contribution by Terrance Kirby

I haven’t been able to find my husband anything exciting for Christmas. He is a very difficult person to buy for, but I try very hard to get him something very exciting. I know it might not be exciting to some people, but this year I got him something I know he will love. Every year he talks about one of the ESPN Game Plan direct TV packages. He loves watching college football, but didn’t want to spend the money on additional channels. I know it is a splurge, but every year he talks about wishing he had it. So, I know he really wants it. Granted he will not be able to use it until next year, but at least he will have something to look forward to. I am hoping it is as great as he thinks it will be. I might regret getting him for it, when all he does is watch game after game. However, I don’t have any other ideas this year and this is the only “big” thing I could think of.

Hubby and TV

Thanks for the post, Kathy Shelton

My husband and I are all about getting a big glass of wine to share and sitting down with the www.direct.tvchannels to try and find some kind of crime drama. I really love Law and Order reruns and he’s more into CSI but we’re usually happy no matter what the other one picks. I think it’s so much fun for he and I to get watching a show and guess who did what – we’re nearly always wrong but it’s fun bonding and I know he feels the same way. I love that there are so many different types of law enforcement and since we’re both teachers by day we really don’t have any exposure to things like that unless we’re watching it on TV. I just think it’s hilarious how we don’t know a thing about being part of a police force and that we’d both clearly be terrible at being police. I can’t imagine a job that deserves more respect than what they do and I guess that’s part of why I watch.

What to Expect

This guest post from Doris Dillon

Gosh, I had no idea what to expect when we moved but I’ve been so pleasantly surprised! I’d never lived farther than ten minutes from my entire extended family but when my new husband got this job I knew it was time to cut the cord and move out here with him. We’ve actually had a lot of great time to reconnect so it’s been a welcome change, afterall. I’ve been doing a lot of the logistical stuff around the new townhome like looking into the wild blue deals in our area and setting up new cell service. I wish I could find a job, even something part time, but I guess that will all come with a few more weeks here. I like our new life together although I have to be honest and say I do miss my family a lot. I’m really feeling like an independent adult for the first time in my life, though, so I guess it’s all part of the natural cycle of life and getting older!

Heading to Starbucks for Relaxing Times

Heading To Starbucks for Relaxing Times

I appreciate the guest post, Emerson Moses

One of my very favorite things to do in the winter is to go out for a cup of coffee. I love to go to Starbucks to treat myself, because even though they may be a bit more expensive, they really do have excellent coffee. The best time to go to our local Starbucks is in the morning, around 10 am. By this time everybody has already gotten their morning coffee for work, and I have a couple of hours before the crowd comes in for lunch. The kids are off to school, and I make sure that before I leave the house, that I set my home alarm system (Adt Security home systems Arizona).

I like to ! change what kind of coffee I get here and there, but I especially love the Caramel Macchiato. This drink is hot, has espresso, cream and caramel flavoring in it. I go by myself, because as much as I love to socialize, I also love to have some time to myself, and sitting in Starbucks gives that to me. I bring along a book, and spend at least and hour or more relaxing by the window with my book or in a big chair and reading. Sometimes, I take the time to catch up on my to-do list, make out Christmas cards for the holidays, or even catch up on e-mails on my laptop. Starbucks is a relaxing place that I love to frequent.

Being ready for the coldest of winters

Guest written by our friend Mason Abbott

If you live in a climate that has tough winters, you might be looking for tips to help you stay warm and enjoy the season. No matter where your interests lie, there is likely to be something to keep you entertained. While the winter can be a great time of year for kids and adults, you must remember that safety should always be a priority. Keeping you and your family safe in the winter months might require different practices than in warmer weather.

If you or your family is going to be outside for extended lengths of time, they will need to be properly dressed. This includes wearing hats, gloves, winter jackets, proper shoes, and possibly snow pants. All of these items will help to insulate, along with prevent snow from melting and being absorbed by clothes. Remember that cotton and denim can be warm, but once the material is wet it can also be deadly in cold climates.

Keeping your home safe while you're away is important as well. Make sure that when you leave your house you remember to set your home alarm from www.besthomesecurity.com/customer-service.html before leaving. That will allow you to know you are safe and protected while away. Also be sure to keep the drive and walkways clear of snow and ice so that the danger of a person falling is greatly diminished.

Red Apples

I only like red apples - I had a yellow apple and maybe I am doing something wrong or eating them at the wrong times but they are just so soft - they are sweet and they are not bad but the texture for me just is gross - I do not like soft apples - i like to crunch into them.

Mess

This floor is a mess - now I just vacuumed yesterday and you wouldthink that I wouldn't have to vacuum everyday since I don't where my shoes in the house but it never fails - it is weird - either my vaucuum isn't wokring or somethin but I know it is because I empty it every time I vacuum - I don't know.

Gold Bullion

When it comes to that investment the gold bullion is the one to check out and the US Gold Bureau is the site that you should inquire about because they have a lot of information out there to help you make the best investment that you can make. And when it comes to your returment pans this may be a very big part of it. People are tired and just do not want to make that poor investment that is actually going to end up losing them money in the long run and it seems as though this is exactly what is happening lately.

Stupid

I am just watching something stupid...no surprize the it is on the conedy station here - how just so stupid - they really know how toput on the really awful movies =- you know the movies that are just not and just never funny. You would think that they would put something funny on - hello comedy!

Turtle neck

So I got this new turtle neck that I just absolutely love - I t has that like mettalic sort of thread in it so it isn't sparkling or anything but is definately has that shimmer that is relaly pretty and people have said that I look nice in this color so I got itm... mainly because it was the only color left and on sale for $5 though.

Now is the time to invest in the gold bar - it is a solid investment and the US Gold Bureau has a lot of great info for you.

Circus

I have not been to the circus in years - and I relaly have no desire to go to the circus mainly because it is kinda creepy if you ask me. I never ever found the clowns funny and thye just are weird...I have heard and read and seenn to many weird stories so now the clown really down have a bad wrap - don't you have to go to school to become one?

Early

So i think that I am going to go to sleep early tonight - i have a funny feeling that I will have to get up and shovel or something tomorrow - maybe have to sand the driveway - I just don't want to do that and I am not looking forward to doing something like that either - I really do not like that snow but at least it is Friday.
