Not Right

So my husband has a 42 inch tv which is really nice but if you stretch the picture to take up the whole screen it looks weird and little distorted but at the same time - what is the point of buying a 42 inch screen tv isf you are only watching 32 inches of tv with bars all on the side of the screen that just gets me dso upset like what a waste!
